A Glimpse Into International Housekeepers' Week History

By Andi Curry, Editor

This year marks the 35th Anniversary of International Housekeepers Week! In the early '80s, housekeepers week began as a directive from an IEHA president to recognize the "doers" in the profession. The first official theme was "Our Profession Is Clean," and had several different slogans in the years that followed.

We know you're likely in the process of finalizing your plans for this year's IHW (Sept. 11-17, 2016), but we were just going through our archives and thought you might enjoy a few snapshots of a logo and slogan contest held in 1990. You've got to admire the creativity of IEHA members who submitted artwork for the contest! If you've yet to download our 2016 IHW Marketing Kit, which includes the official logo, a poster file, social media images and press release templates, make sure to do so here!
