IEHA Education/Scholarship Foundation Award
I. SCOPE
- An annual scholarship(s) up to $800.00 will be awarded to I.E.H.A. member(s) enrolled in a program of study leading to an undergraduate degree, associate degree or I.E.H.A. approved Certification programs to include the self study course.
- This scholarship will be awarded to the student(s) submitting the best original manuscript on housekeeping within any industry segment ie: hospitality, healthcare, education, rehab. centers, government buildings, etc.
- The completed manuscripts and application for the award must be postmarked by January 10. All applications received will be acknowledged. Manuscripts will be judged during the I.E.H.A. Association Board Meeting. The winner(s) will be announced in the June issue of EHT and will receive a check and certificate at that time.

II. PROCEDURE
- Advertise with editorial in E.H.T. in September of every year that students may submit a written paper concerning the housekeeping field. ie: inservice, management, AIDS, personal experience, hotel, healthcare, recycling, waste disposal, personnel shortage, OSHA standards, etc.
- All papers must be postmarked by January 10 for review by the Education Foundation Trustees.
- The scholarship(s) will not be awarded if in the opinion of the committee there is no paper that merits the award.
Students applying for the award must comply with the following procedures:
- Must be current member of I.E.H.A.
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree, associate degree or I.E.H.A. approved Certification program.
- The deadline for receipt of application is January 10 of every year. The application consists of: application form, required material, and the manuscript. Information required includes the following:
* Name and address of student.
* Curriculum of student showing classroom hours of coursework.
* Transcript of grades showing student's coursework.
* A letter from the school official or instructor verifying the student is enrolled.

III. MANUSCRIPT
Published manuscripts will be copyrighted with the name of I.E.H.A. No payment is made for the use of articles. Complimentary copies of EHT that contain published manuscripts will be provided to the author.
- Four copies of the manuscript are required. One must be an original, the other three may be copies.
- The manuscript must contain the title, author, abstract, complete references and original illustrations or photographs. (Note: all references must be credited and documented appropriately.) If I.E.H.A. learns that this has not been done, the candidate will not be considered for the scholarship award.
- The manuscript must be in English, type-written (or typeset) on one side of white 8 1/2" x 11" paper and double spaced.
- The manuscript is limited to a maximum of two-thousand words.
Manuscripts should be reviewed by a school official, professor and/or instructor to ensure all criteria has been met and all contents and grammatical corrections have been completed prior to submittal of application and manuscripts. - Photographs must be black and white glossy prints. Slides will not be accepted for B/W reproduction -- some 35 mm can be reproduced. Captions are not to be written on photographs. A half sheet of white paper should contain the typed caption for each photograph. Place a small number (1) in a corner of the photo that will correspond with your typed caption marked #.

IV. JUDGING CRITERIA
The Education Foundation Trustees will judge the manuscripts based on the following criteria:
- All materials required are complete and verified.
- Presented in a neat and orderly manner.
- Does not exceed 2000 word limit.
- Manuscript is technically correct.
- Manuscript is presented with good grammar and correct spelling practices.
